* Pithoragarh

Pithoragarh

Known as soar valley, the town of Pithoragarh was an important landmark of the Chand rulers of Kumaon. Nestled in a little valley that is merely 5km. long and 2 kms. wide, the town is sometimes referred to as “miniature Kashmir”. An attraction for all types of visitors, mountaineers, scientists, researchers & pilgrims, it is a complete tourist package in itself. The Mansarovar Yatra route is a challenge and a delight for trekkers and the adventure-seeking.

The District as a Whole

         The district of Pithoragarh was carved out of the district of Almora in 1960. With Tibet on its north and Nepal on the east, the district is situated in the heart of a mystically beautiful region. The northern part of the district is dotted with many high and snow-covered peaks like Nanda Devi (east), Nanda Devi (west), Trishul, Rajrambha, Panchchuli among others. Romantic meadows and valleys worth-dying-for complete Pithoragarh, a poetic expression of His own creative genius.
